Spiced Lamb Burger
Spiced Lamb Burger Recipe
These are delicious lamb burgers perfect for the BBQ or you can cook them under the grill, a winning combination with our Mint and Coriander Raita served in pitta bread.
Makes 4 burgers
Ingredients:
1 small onion, finely chopped
4cm piece of ginger, grated
3 garlic cloves, crushed
A handful of fresh coriander or mint leaves
3 teaspoons of either the Korma Spice, Bhuna Spice or Goan Spice
500g minced lamb
Salt and pepper
- Whizz up the onion, ginger, garlic and coriander or mint into a paste (or finely chop / grate). Mix with the lamb and knead thoroughly. Season with your choice of spices and salt and pepper and mix well.
- Divide the mixture into four. Lightly wet your hands. Roll the mixture into balls, then flatten down to a burger roughly around 3cm thick. Put the burgers in the fridge for 30 minutes or so to firm up and develop the flavours.
- When your BBQ is ready, lightly oil one side of the burger, place it oil side down and cook for around 5 minutes (resist the temptation to fiddle with it!). Oil the other side, turn and cook for a further 5 minutes. Reduce the cooking time if you prefer your burger pink in the middle.
- Leave to rest for a few minutes then serve drizzled with our Mint and Coriander Raita in a Pitta bread and a summer salad. Yum!
Notes: You can use the same recipe to make a Lamb Kofta Curry. Make the mixture into small, round balls, grill, then add our gently spiced tomato sauce for a Spice Pots Lamb Kofta Curry.
