Christmas Planning Tips
5 TOP TIPS FOR CHRISTMAS PLANNING
THE CRAZY SEASON
The countdown to Christmas can be a bit intense. Things seem to speed up just when you feel like slowing down and hibernating.
Although our little team at Spice Pots have had our heads in Christmas since July (stock prep for our busy season takes around 5 months), on a personal level, I'm guilty of leaving Christmas planning and prepping until the last minute. This can mean that the stress of organising everything ruins the vibe and the whole point of the holiday season - i.e spending some lovely time with family and friends.
We hope that our planning tips and recipes for the freezer will help you get organised and keep it all stress free. Perhaps I'll even follow my own advice this year.
5 TOP TIPS FOR CHRISTMAS PLANNING
Putting some plans in place now will make it all easier and less stressful.
- If you are thinking of giving homemade gifts this year, start planning these now. Hand made gifts are so appreciated but they do take time. Start collecting jars or pretty bottles. How about sweet spice sugar syrup in a pretty bottle for a cocktail enthusiast? Eszter, our stock boss, has been making sea buckthorn jelly for months!
- Double your curry this week and freeze half. Repeat this step a few times! You will feel SO GOOD when you remember those meals are there, all ready.
- Bake! Have a baking afternoon and freeze cakes and biscuits and treats ready for those unexpected visitors.
- Make your bread sauce and cranberry sauce for Christmas! I know this sounds bonkers but it's 2 more jobs ticked off the list!
- Remember that you can freeze a half way step - for example marinade the meat for a Chicken Korma or Bhuna Butter Chicken and pop it in the freezer ready to cook when you need it.
